Stories & traditions
The name is pure Collesano geography: in Sicilian a cannolo is a water-spout, and the town has a “Quattro Cannoli” (four-spout) fountain along the corso — nothing to do with the pastry.
That fountain is topped by a small cherub (putto) which, by local memory, once carried the town’s satirical verses — its pasquinate.
Collesano’s water heritage also includes a “Fontana dei Due Cannoli” — fountains were civic landmarks worth naming a place after.
