Le Delizie di Benedetta

Le Delizie di Benedetta

An artisanal pasticceria run by pastry chef Benedetta, one of the founding shops of 'La Cassatina, la Regina' — the local project that brought back the Cassatina di Collesano, a small ricotta-and-chocolate sweet invented in the early 1900s by Mastru Gnaziu Civello. Today the Cassatina is sold in every bar in town; here you taste it from one of the original makers. Also known for cannoli filled to order, almond semifreddo, ricotta brioches, gelato, and homemade jams and biscuits. 4.8/5 on Google. A small, calm shop on Via Roma — ideal for a sit-down sweet break or a piece of Collesano to take home.

Stories & traditions

  • The Cassatina di Collesano is a shortcrust shell with sponge, a dark-chocolate coating and a sweet ricotta filling, finished with a white glaze and a candied cherry — it shares only its name with the Sicilian cassata.
  • The revival was “un’idea tutta al femminile”, an all-women initiative — the sweet was even crowned the “little queen of the Madonie”.
  • Alongside it: cannoli filled to order, gelato and brioche, and a rosticceria counter of arancini, pizzette and calzoni.
